Mochi the Munchkin

Mr. Mochi is a munchkin, a breed of cats that are distinguishable for their very short legs. This particular Mochi came from a short-haired munchkin father and a domestic short-haired mother. He was born on August 10, 2021 and lived his first few months happily with his housecat parents. He was adopted at three months old, and has been living a laid-back life with his owners and siblings, Matcha and Miruku.

What is a munchkin cat exactly? Munchkins are short-legged cats, and were originally caused by a genetic mutation. Throughout the years, however, they have been bred to produce their short and stubby legs because of their cute appearance. There has been research showing that this mutation can cause harm to munchkins, since their short legs hinder them from walking, running, and jumping.

However, this doesn’t stop them from being energetic and social! Mochi is a big brother that dotes on his brother Matcha and sister Miruku, and is an avid follower of his owner, never leaving their side.

Mochi is a very healthy indoor and neutered cat. He loves to sunbathe under the windows and provide a pillow for his siblings. He enjoys his gifts of catnip very much. On occasion, he’ll adventure the outdoors with his owners in a backpack, greeting neighbors with the good weather.

Mochi the Munchkin lives a calm, serene life with his family. Although he is much smaller than everyone else, he makes up for it with a big personality.
